On May 30th, 2012, four souls were gunned down at Seattle’s Cafe Racer and later one additional soul on First Hill. In the aftermath of the shooting, saxophonist Neil Welch penned and recorded an elegy for the fallen victims. “A Response to the Wednesday Morning Shooting at Cafe Racer. May 30th, 2012 in Seattle, WA” is a 36 minute, fully composed work written in traditional and graphic notation, including Neil’s own unique fingering systems and performance directions.
An after-party at Racer to follow will celebrate friends, air, sky, soil, sweating, laughing, living.
